Wisconsin and New Mexico take Roman 2019 Legends Classic presented by Old Trapper openers

Wisconsin and New Mexico opened the 13th annual Roman Legends Classic presented by Old Trapper with victories.
In Madison, Brad Davison (pictured) scored a game-high 24 points and Aleem Ford added a career-high 16 points in leading Wisconsin to an 83-63 win over McNeese.
Brevin Pritzl scored 13 points in his first start in two seasons for the Badgers (2-1), who won their second straight game.
Forward Sha’Markus Kennedy scored a team-high 20 points and A.J. Lawson added 10 for the Cowboys.
Kobe King, a sophomore wing who scored a career-high 18 points in the Badgers’ victory on Nov. 8 over Eastern Illinois, didn’t play Wednesday after suffering a left-leg injury in practice on Monday.
In Albuquerque, New Mexico overcame a sloppy first 10 minutes to emerge with a 93-78 win over Green Bay.
JaQuan Lyle led all scorers with 31 points and was joined in double figures by Makuach Maluach who had 16 points and Carlton Bragg who posted a double-double of 11 points and 16 rebounds.
The Lobos had eight turnovers in the first seven minutes of the game, which resulted in 12 Phoenix points. After tightening their grip on the ball, New Mexico surged. Trailing 20-16 with 11:58 to play in the first half, the Lobos outscored Green Bay 19-6 over the next 4:58 to take a 35-26 lead. After that, Lyle took over, scoring 20 points in the second half to enable New Mexico to pull away.
JayQuan McLoud led the Phoenix with 20 points and seven assists. PJ Pipes had 17 points and Trevian Bell added 13 points.
The Roman Legends Classic presented by Old Trapper resumes on Friday when No. 22 Auburn hosts CSUN. On Saturday, New Mexico will be home to McNeese.
